Frequently Asked Questions
1. What types of ceremonies do you perform?
I officiate traditional, modern, spiritual, religious, interfaith, non-religious, elopements, micro-weddings, vow renewals, and fully customized ceremonies. My goal is always the same: to create a ceremony that reflects your story and values.
2. Will you customize our ceremony?
Absolutely. I meet with you to understand your relationship, tone, and preferences. I then craft a personalized ceremony that can include readings, rituals, prayers, unity elements, or anything meaningful to you.
3. Do you perform non-religious or spiritual-but-not-religious ceremonies?
Yes. Many couples want a ceremony that feels warm and meaningful without being overtly religious. I’m comfortable creating a ceremony that matches your beliefs, background, and comfort level.
4. Can we include our own vows?
Yes—and I encourage it! You can write your own vows, choose from sample vows I provide, or mix and match. I’m happy to offer editing help or coaching if needed.
5. How do we book you?
Simply contact me through the website. I’ll confirm availability and once you’re ready to move forward, I secure your date with a small deposit. The deposit secures your wedding date/time.
6. Do you attend rehearsals?
Yes, I’m available to attend your rehearsal, if you wish, for an additional fee. Rehearsals ensure everyone is comfortable, confident, and knows exactly what to expect.
7. Where do you officiate weddings?
I serve Savannah/Hilton Head, the Lowcountry, and beyond. I’m also available for destination weddings anywhere and everywhere.
8. How long is the ceremony?
Most ceremonies typically run 20-45 minutes, depending on the elements you choose. Elopements and micro-weddings can be shorter. Customized ceremonies can be slightly longer. Your wedding can be as long as you wish.
9. Are premarital meetings required?
They’re not required. However, I do offer optional premarital coaching for couples who want to strengthen communication and deepen connection. Couples may wish to have this coaching even if I am not their officiant.
10. What do you wear during the ceremony?
I typically wear the black choir robe with the white wedding stole pictured in the profile photo on this website. However, I have also worn suit and tie or slacks and shirt.
11. Will you help us with the marriage license?
Yes. I’ll walk you through the process of applying for the marriage license. After the wedding I will sign and return the completed document to the probate court.
12. Do you offer vow renewals?
Yes! Vow renewals are one of the most meaningful ceremonies I perform. I customize them to celebrate your journey, your growth, and the life you’ve built together.
13. Can you officiate military weddings?
Yes. I’m honored to serve military couples and am familiar with traditions, schedules, and the flexibility often required for service members and their families.
14. What makes your ceremonies unique?
Couples tell me they appreciate my warmth, professionalism, calm presence, and ability to craft ceremonies that feel deeply personal. With experience as a pastor, grief counselor, and author, I bring a thoughtful, grounded, and heartfelt approach to every wedding.
15. What if we don’t know what kind of ceremony we want?
No problem! I guide you through several ceremony styles, provide samples, and help you shape a ceremony that feels natural and meaningful to both of you.
